Maidstone East Civic Quarter Awarded £56,000 Funding from OPE Phase 4

Plans to develop a dilapidated part of Maidstone have moved a step closer after a joint Council bid to buy the former Post Office sorting depot was announced. In a deal finalised in September 2016, Kent County Council (KCC) and Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) acquired the 3.5 acre Sandling Road site in order to unlock the potential transformation of the area.

The Project which will deliver a ‘landmark’ mixed-use development including retail space, homes, offices, increased parking and an improved interchange between buses, trains and taxis, was awarded OPE Phase 4 funding to support the master-planning work necessary to bring the site forward.
